The focus of the adult Sabbath school is how to grow the church and keep members faithful and active through Sabbath school.
Highlights of the Last 5 Years
During the last five years there has been transition in the adult Sabbath school ministries leadership. Rudy Bermudez served as director from 2008 through 2011. Then I resumed the adult Sabbath school ministries director position. The focus of the adult Sabbath school is how to grow the church and keep members faithful and active through Sabbath school.
Sabbath School Seminars
Several adult Sabbath school seminars were held throughout the counties of the conference territory during the last five years. Conference–wide adult Sabbath school seminars for new Sabbath school superintendents, teachers and secretaries were held. Guest speakers were invited from the North American Division, the General Conference and Loma Linda University. These seminars also served as refresher courses for those who have been leading adult Sabbath schools.
Care Time in Sabbath School Classes
Concerns about missing members, strengthening members, and the need of bringing new friends into the church and Sabbath school was emphasized through care time in the adult Sabbath school classes.
Goals for the Next 5 Years
The goal for the next five years is to help church membership grow and avoid membership loss. The adult Sabbath school ministries aim is:
- To conduct conference–wide adult Sabbath school workshops to train adult Sabbath school superintendents, teachers and secretaries.
- To encourage churches to incorporate the care component into Sabbath school classes.
- To continue conducting Sabbath school seminars in the various counties of the conference.
- To promote the goals of the adult Sabbath school for spiritual nurture, closer fellowship, plan community outreach projects and world missions.
